Jang Ki-ha and The Faces: Indie kings

Initially inspired by ‘70s folk-rock; they have developed their own brand of indie-rock

When Jang Ki-ha, the lead vocalist of indie rock band Jang Ki-ha and The Faces, released his first single “Cheap Coffee” in 2008, it created an unexpected sensation nationwide, with many drawn to Jang’s playful lyrics and cool, retro vocal style.

Following the unprecedented response to the song, Jang went on to produce his first album, “Living Without Incident” with his band The Faces in February 2009. The album instantly took the indie rock scene by storm and sold over 50,000 records.

The irresistible appeal of the band’s songs lie in their quirky 1970s folk-rock sound and straightforward yet carefree lyrics that, according to the 29-year-old musician, are a reflection of his personality.
